Rhythm Section regular Asa Tate returns to the label with the ‘Andromeda’ EP, 17th July 2026. It follows early contributions to the SHOUTS compilations and last year’s ‘Replica’ EP. Formerly known as Tech Support, he brings a mature, musical take on House, connecting foundational Chicago and 90s Italian sounds with forward-thinking design via his releases on labels like Semi Delicious, Permanent Vacation, and MAD. For this latest outing, Tate heads down a darker, more introspective path, drawing from US proto-house and techno while maintaining the spiritual and physical pull that runs through his work.
Asa Tate opens the ‘Andromeda’ EP with ‘Traffic’, featuring a deep but elastic groove, smeared in classic dub techno chords and driven by rattling percussion coated in dust. There are subtle nods to UKG in its bounce, though pitched down into a more Chicago-leaning framework, with trippy little arps shimmering through the mix and keeping bodies moving. Title track ‘Andromeda’ takes things up a notch with tougher, grittier energy; drums that wouldn’t sound out of place in 90s New York collide with molten acid and zippy synth work that feels beamed back from the future.
‘Echotex (Freak Mix)’ then keeps one foot in true-school dub house, pairing a supple bassline with sci-fi keys and dreamy pads that recall the timeless touch of Larry Heard. The Deep Dub version sinks even further into its cavernous low-end, stretching the groove into a more heads-down, eyes-closed trip to round out another deeply considered dancefloor offering from a firm Rhythm Section favourite.
Founded by Bradley Zero in 2009 as a radio show and event series, Rhythm Section International evolved into a label in 2014 and has since become renowned for championing and developing the careers of talented artists like Chaos in the CBD, dreamcastmoe, Neue Grafik, and Serenda. Rooted in South London and followed worldwide, the collective also hosts a long-running NTS Radio show, has staged over 150 events since 2011, and recently expanded to running their Future Proof mentorship programme.
