Avalon Emerson collab with The Charm for new album ‘Written Into Changes’Out now via Dead Oceans, the LP features guest production from Rostam Batmanglij – a founding member of the band Vampire Weekend – and Bullion alongside Emerson’s own. Keivon Mehdi Hobeheidar also contributes bass and cello, while multi-instrumentalist Jay Flew worked on some of the songwriting. Avalon’s wife, Hunter Lombard, plays guitar on the album.

‘Written Into Changes’ was made in various locations, including the English countryside, London and LA, and is described as the product of “five years of constant travel” that included a move from Berlin to Los Angeles and then to New York. This is in comparison to the more “bedroomy” & the Charm debut of 2023.
“Coming back into the studio for a second round, it was important to think about the dynamics and energy of what we were making and how they might be performed in the future,” she said.
