Mia Koden releases new four-track EP ‘Bittersweet’.

Mia Koden has released a new four-track EP, ‘Bittersweet’.The surprise release takes in several different styles and influences from the producer, spanning the moody minimalist grooves of the title track to the roots-inspired dubstep of ‘Endgame (Blame)’ and the techy atmospherics of ‘Send Off’.

Describing the release on Bandcamp, Mia Koden explained that the EP was inspired, at least in part, by the roots reggae of The Visionaires’ ‘African Princess’ and their one and only LP, ‘To Have A Home’, which featured in a Jahlovemusik soundsystem session that she sampled.

“The fact that ‘bitter’ and ‘sweet’ can occur together,” she added, “also made me think of how it applies to music; big heavy bass complimented by some ‘softer’ / ‘smoother’ sounds etc.”
