Rooted in the chaos of riddim and driven by a militant vocal performance from XAE, “Public Enemies” is an all-out barrage aimed squarely at the opps. Dub sirens and detuned organ stabs set a sinister tone, spiraling into a relentless mix of sub-rattling bass, snarling mids, and high-pitched textures engineered for maximum destruction. It’s a no-frills warcry from two producers who know exactly how to weaponize sound.
The single marks a long-overdue studio link-up between Miami’s Benda and Southern California’s OG Nixin, two powerhouses in bass music with deep ties to hip-hop culture and a mutual love for unfiltered heaviness. Their onstage synergy was first sparked during a back-to-back set they threw down for fellow label regulars, ATLiens, as part of their recent North American tour, and reignited at the iconic Red Rocks venue earlier this year. “Public Enemies” was written with those sets in mind—designed to cause chaos and built for the pit.
Chronicling a run of stellar back-to-back sets that paved the way for their new collab, Benda explains: “Me and OG Nixin have been really good friends for years now, but we had never worked together. Last year, we had our first b2b as support for ATLiens on their ‘Leaving the world Behind’ Tour. The set went so well that we got to do it again at Red Rocks earlier this year! We knew we had to work on a song together for that set.”
Echoing his sentiments that a joint release has been long overdue, OG Nixin says, “It was about time me and Benda cooked something up. Every time I play the track , it turns the whole crowd up, so I’m glad we finally get to put it out and give the fans what they want.”
Sharing his excitement to run it back with Bassrush Records for his next release, XAE states: “Linkin’ up with OG Nixin and Benda on this one was straight fire. We didn’t overthink it, just tapped in, sent ideas back and forth, and let the energy flow. Always dope to lock in with real ones like that. And shoutout Bassrush—feels good to be back workin’ with the fam again.”
Benda has become a wrecking force on Bassrush, known for merging the raw edge of rap with the pulverizing weight of trap and dubstep. His standout EPs ‘Hostile Homicide’ and ‘Beat The Block,’ alongside speaker-rattling singles like “Camo Diamond Rollie,” “Cut Throat,” and “Crypt,” have earned consistent praise from outlets like Run The Trap, Dubstep FBI, and Glasse Factory.
OG Nixin, repping Southern California’s boundary-pushing bass scene, brings a West Coast bite to his experimental sound. His Bassrush arsenal includes the brutal cut “Still Bussin” and a warped remix of ATLiens’ “Shelter” from the ‘Ghost Planet (Remixes)’ project, each earning heavy rotation from tastemakers including Blanke, Jessica Audiffred, and GAWM.
Lastly, West Coast rapper XAE has been leaving his stamp on bass music with his signature scream-rap style, which has been a major showstopper on the Bassrush catalog. He previously touched down on RIOT Ten and High Zombie’s mosh-ready collab “FTPU,” in addition to his killer contribution to Infekt and HAMRO’s “Da Pit,” which locked the No. 1 spot on Beatport’s ‘Dubstep’ chart.
With “Public Enemies,” Benda and OG Nixin kick the door open on a new era of collaboratio—one that’s gritty, aggressive, and tailor-made for the frontlines of bass music’s most chaotic dancefloors.
