Chloe Lula releases new single ‘Deep Tripper’

Chloe Lula’s “Deep Tripper” on Non Series moves with a steady, rolling groove, its heavy kick offset by a skittering layer of percussion that keeps the rhythm in motion. A hazy, wavering tone hangs over the track, occasionally coming into focus before slipping back into the mix. There’s a murky quality to the sound, with the higher frequencies rattling away above a low-end that rarely lets up.

Lula avoids the obvious peaks and drops, instead making small adjustments to the rhythm and texture that gradually alter the feel of the track. At 135 BPM, it has enough drive for the dancefloor, but there’s a looseness to the percussion that stops it feeling overly rigid. Hypnotic stuff!
