The Jersey club trailblazer brings her global connections home on ‘Mass Appeal,’ featuring contributions from Cakes Da Killa, Sam Binga, Swick, and more.
UNIIQU3 has spent more than a decade taking Jersey club around the world. That reach now inspires the title of her debut album, Mass Appeal.
“You know, I never thought club music would take me this far. It’s truly something about Jersey that makes the world shake, and what I brought to the table was something different,” she says on “Red Eye (Intro),” as the sound of an airplane whooshes by. “But when I built my own table, I built something truly unique. I opened up my own world, and I’m about to welcome you all into it.”
It’s a fitting description of the New Jersey native’s path to prominence, both within Jersey club and across the broader dance/electronic scene. It’s also why she thinks of Mass Appeal as “a sonic passport to some of the places I’ve taken Jersey club” – a range mirrored not only by her own global footprint, but also by Mass Appeal‘s international collaborators. The 10-track project’s intimate guest list includes invitees from across the UK (Samurai Breaks, Sam Binga, Karma Kid), US (Spank Rock, Leonce, Cakes Da Killa), and beyond, from Melbourne’s Swick to Rio’s Leo Justi.
That outlook came into focus on the album’s debut single “Mile High Club,” as well as fellow singles “Calling My Name,” “Papi,” and “Airplane Mode.” Listeners got a preview of UNIIQU3’s first full-length during Beatport Live’s September 20 popup event with Moving Company and Klipsch, where the New Jersey native threw down a three-hour set on a block in Bushwick. Mass Appeal is another milestone in a career full of them. From touring with Tinashe and opening for Beyoncé on her Renaissance world tour, to going platinum as a co-writer for Chlöe and being sampled by Doechii, UNIIQU3 has navigated the music industry with the same ease and success as she’s crossed continents.
