Deadmau5 closes Day 2 of Ultra

Fans of The Prodigy were understandably disappointed when the seminal group cancelled their headlining slot on the second night of Ultra. However, much of their disappointment was alleviated when Joel Zimmerman announced that he would be the one to attempt to fill their formidable shoes. For his spur of the moment headlining set at the Live Stage, Deadmau5 filled his hour in the spotlight with an eclectic array of classic tracks and newer additions to his repertoire.

Though his famously mischievous substitution for Avicii at Ultra 2014 left some fans wondering how seriously he would take his 2016 slot, Zimmerman’s performance bridged the gap between old and new fans alike. Zimmerman’s Saturday performance acts as a phenomenal prelude to his scheduled Sunday performance at Armin van Buuren’s ASOT stage, at which  his presence has been highly-anticipated.
