‘Make Love Not War’ featuring Nathan Nicholson is one of the outstanding tracks of Claptone’s recent album ‘Closer’ and nothing less than a statement. French DJ and producer Dombresky and Melbourne artist Torren Foot have unveiled remixes of the track, out today.
Kicking off the package, Dombresky delivers a slick disco house remix of ‘Make Love Not War’, paying homage to his French roots. This is juxtaposed with Torren Foot’s dark, hypnotic dancefloor groover including a more than dramatic breakdown, before Claptone himself closes things out with an ethereal Balearic rework made for those special club moments. ‘Make Love Not War’ is the 8th single from ‘Closer’ after ‘Golden’, ‘My Night’, ‘Wake Up’, ‘Just A Ghost’, ‘Right Into You’, ‘Queen Of Ice’ and ‘Beautiful’. Claptone has been collaborating with Nathan Nicholson since album one ‘Charmer’, and they had previous success with singles such as ‘Heartbeat’ and ‘Under The Moon’.
Best known for his remix work, including his reimagining of Gregory Porter’s ‘Liquid Spirit’, after releasing ‘Fantast’, his second studio album in 2018, Claptone’s uplifting and vocal heavy style of house has gone on to rack up millions of plays on YouTube, with his Spotify currently enjoying 4.5 million monthly listeners. More recently he has remixed tracks from superstars Elton John, Dua Lipa, Gorillaz, Mark Ronson, Ava Max, Pet Shop Boys, Michael Kiwanuka, New Order and more.
The Venetian mask-donning producer launched the immersive and otherworldly ‘The Masquerade’ events in 2017, with guests including Fatboy Slim, Armand Van Helden, MK, James Hype, Vintage Culture, Faithless, John Summit, Dennis Ferrer, Meduza and Pete Tong joining the fun across showcases in Australia, South America, North America, London, Paris and Amsterdam, to name a few. He then in 2019 took the series to Ibiza for his first summer residency at fabled nightspot Pacha, bringing the likes of Purple Disco Machine, Kerri Chandler and Duke Dumont along for the ride. Just this year in October he’ll finish another very successful ‘The Masquerade’ season on the island. And to go full circle, both Dombresky and Torren Foot will also play at ‘The Masquerade’ within the next few weeks. Dombresky joins the line up for Lima, Peru and London, UK and Torren Foot is part of the Melbourne, Australia event, dates below.
Crafting a unique and authentic style, Dombresky is best known for his club & festival centric, Soul Sacrifice. Having remixed the likes of Tokimonsta, Anabel Englund and MK, Dombresky loves to lend his style on others songs
One of Australia’s most in-demand touring DJs, Torren Foot first garnered international recognition when his single‘More Life’ spent five weeks at #1 on Beatport and was the most played single on Triple J. Receiving support from tastemakers Adam Beyer, Claptone, Wax Motif and Destructo, Torren’s previous work has scored him an ARIA nomination, with other successful club tracks ‘Hot Sauce’ and remix for Tiga’s ‘Bugatti’ via Diplo’s Mad Decent label.
Two fast-rising dance stars bring new energy to a revered track.
