English vocalist and violinist Erica Nockalls is delighted to release the official video for her reinvention of Roxy Music’s In Every Dream Homea Heartache.
In Every Dream Home a Heartache, also featuring Parisian studio producer/artist Jean-Charles Versari, is a twisted duet between the main protagonists where Erica takes on the role of the doll with Jean-Charles, her male counter-point. A bleak, dystopian interpretation of Roxy Music’s original, In Every Dream Home a Heartache captures Erica Nockalls’ unpredictable, yet cinematic, sound perfectly.
Over the years Erica made a name for herself collaborating with a number of renowned bands and artists ranging from The Wonder Stuff and Echo and the Bunnymen, to Tronos, The Proclaimers and Immaculate Fools. Her solo work has explored a dark, intense style of alternative-pop embracing electro, synth and industrial elements into her unique approach.
Partnering with the aforementioned Jean-Charles Versari, the pair created album Dark Music From A Warm Place in 2021.
The record works within a genre-neutral template, swimming in honey-flavoured acid. With the use of gritty drum machines, luscious synths and unapologetic lyrics, angular violins provide an unpredictable journey. The material being cinematic from beginning to end, Nockalls produces a platform to deliver her own distinctive, brooding, off-kilter design.
The video for In Every Dream Home a Heartache follows recent single, Build Me a Ship, which was released in September to celebrate the announcement of Erica’s UK tour supporting iconic band Echo and the Bunnymen.
In Every Dream Home a Heartache is out now.
