Can you walk us through your creative process for Wild Electric? What were your main inspirations behind it?
Wild Electric is about capturing that moment when you know you’re going to have a great night, filled with positivity and the feeling of being truly alive. My main inspirations were the electrifying energy of the dance floor and the collective euphoria that music can create. I wanted to encapsulate that spark, that shared connection when everyone is lost in the music and the moment.
The music industry can be incredibly challenging. Have there been moments when you felt overwhelmed or considered stepping away from music? How do you stay motivated and focused during difficult times?
There have certainly been moments when I felt overwhelmed. Life itself can be overwhelming, and the music industry is no exception. When the industry feels too much, I often switch gears by listening to a completely different genre, playing piano, writing, singing, or immersing myself in nature. Going for a run, talking to a friend, or just getting back to basics helps me regain my focus and motivation.
Since you began diving fully into Tech House and Techno in 2018, how do you feel your sound and style have evolved? Are there specific milestones or learning experiences that have significantly influenced your journey?
My sound has definitely evolved, though some elements remain constant. I have always loved melodies, drums, and vocals, but I’ve learned that sometimes less is more. In 2023, I had a pivotal experience that significantly impacted my life and made me crave a harder sound. During a contract in the Maldives, I played a mix of house, tech house, and melodic tunes, but upon returning, I found myself gravitating more towards techno.
With an exciting summer lined up, including the “Wild Electric” tour and several festival appearances, what are you most looking forward to? Are there any specific events or collaborations that fans should be particularly excited about?
I’m really looking forward to sharing a couple of remixes I have coming up, though I won’t reveal who they are just yet. Playing in Ibiza and visiting new countries is always thrilling. I love experiencing new cultures, hearing what people are listening to, and immersing myself in different languages. It’s one of my favorite aspects of touring and performing.
You’ve mentioned being influenced by artists like Carl Cox and Deborah De Luca. Who are some of your current favorite artists, and how do they inspire your music and performances?
Currently, I’m inspired by Charlotte de Witte, Hi’Lo, ANNA, Lilly Palmer, Pan-Pot, Rebuke, and Balthazar & JackRock. Each of these artists brings something unique to the table, and their creativity and energy inspire me to push my boundaries and continuously evolve my sound and performances.
You’ve released your latest tracks on your own imprint, Temple House Music. What inspired you to start your own label, and what are your future plans for it? How do you see it contributing to the electronic music scene?
Starting my own label was driven by a desire for ownership over my music, its distribution, and any deals associated with it. It’s something I’ve always wanted, and I’m thrilled it has become a reality. I have a fantastic team, and I couldn’t do it alone. As the label grows, I’m excited to sign more artists and continue curating events that contribute to the vibrancy of the electronic music scene.
As both a producer and a DJ, how do you balance the creative aspects of producing new music with the high-energy demands of live performances? Do you find that one aspect informs or enhances the other?
Being a DJ greatly influences my music production. It helps me understand what gets people moving, the types of drops they expect, and how silence can be incredibly impactful. DJing allows me to constantly analyze what works on the dance floor, which informs my production process. Stepping outside these norms can differentiate a track, but understanding the current trends is crucial for creating music that resonates.
Given your experiences and success, what advice would you offer to aspiring DJs and producers who are trying to break into the electronic music scene?
Be patient with yourself and celebrate small achievements. Success often comes from accumulating many small victories over time. Quietly congratulate yourself for the hard work you put in, as this inner confidence will help when the industry feels overwhelming, or progress seems slow. Make a list of your goals; I have lists from years ago that include starting a record label, and seeing those goals become reality motivates me to keep working towards new ones.
