“Begin” is a powerful ballad that blends electropop with melodic bass. Britt Lari’s vocals anchor the effort, painting a striking picture of a tumultuous but irresistible journey of personal growth. Airy chords are reinforced by moving guitar riffs and tension-building drums. The drops hit with a euphoric sense of elation as the hook screams “Let it all begin.” Stuttered percussion and soaring synths further the highs while the stripped-back break and outro hint at a sense of regret. “Begin” is an emotional rollercoaster that will have you feeling all the ups and downs of making self improvements, no matter how hard it may seem at times.

Fairlane breaks down the tone he aimed to capture around Britt’s delivery, saying: “I really wanted the song to be ‘fun’ while maintaining a sinister undertone—I was able to achieve this balance by incorporating minor progressions with new experimental production techniques such as using my own vocals to create the lead melody.”

“I really enjoyed combining forces with Fairlane,” adds Britt Lari. “With powerful vibes, I paired emotional pop-inspired vocals to match the dynamic and bass-driven production. ‘Begin’ is a reflection of an inner battle between who you are and who you want to be.”

Fairlane is a Canadian multi-instrumentalist and producer who’s become well-known for blending emotional beauty and heavy-hitting bass.
