Falcon Publicity at Coachella 2022: Duke Dumont, MEUTE, SLANDER, Richie Hawtin

FRIDAY, APRIL 15 & 22

MEUTE, MOJAVE – 1:20pm

The bass is vibrating, confetti is shimmering, and the red uniforms are popping in the strobe light. With its explosive mix of hypnotic driving techno and expressive brass band music, the techno marching band MEUTE has been creating a big buzz across continents since 2016. The eleven musicians from Hamburg in their iconic red jackets love to break the rules and defy boundaries. What started as a small experiment on the streets of the district of St. Pauli quickly became a globally acclaimed phenomenon. The band revolutionizes techno music and redefines the concept of brass bands using acoustic instruments only. It provides for viral hits, sold-out clubs, and real electronic frenzy. Enjoy the bliss of a colorful, thrilling experience that will get every single one of you onto the dance floor. Thanks to an intensive creative period, the band has heaps of new tunes in the bag: Besides technoid reworks, there are further original compositions and collaborations with artists like ÄTNA, Ben Böhmer, Jan Blomqvist and Henrik Schwarz. MEUTE heads into 2022 full of energy and ready to return to the stage for their debut Coachella performance. MEUTE has done live collaborations with: Laurent Garnier, Flume, Solomun, Stephan Bodzin and ÄTNA. Their latest single “Infinite” is out now.

FRIDAY, APRIL 15 & 22

SLANDER, SAHARA – 11:55pm

SLANDER is the American DJ/electronic music producer duo from Southern California consisting of Derek Andersen and Scott Land. They are best known for their unique, emotional, melodic bass music sound. Going from being Icon Collective graduates to selling out Red Rocks and playing mainstage at global festivals such as EDC and Ultra, SLANDER has become one of the hottest acts in dance music with two RIAA Gold Certifications to their name. For their Coachella performance, SLANDER are bringing their longtime and strongest collaborator Dylan Matthew to the festival so fans can expect much more than a DJ set. There will be a grand piano and Dylan will be joining them to perform all their big cuts together including “Love Is Gone” which has garnered more than 1.1 billion streams in global consumption and has been remixed by the most notable names in electronic music right now including Armin van Buuren, Alok, Kaskade and R3HAB. Check out Billboard’s piece on it here

It’s been a goal of SLANDER’s to play Coachella since they were fraternity DJs at UC Irvine. They’ve gone to every Coachella since they graduated high school. Expect a Las Vegas style live performance – tons of lasers, fireballs and CO2 but with the ebb and flow of a storytelling live performance.

SATURDAY, APRIL 16 & 23

RICHIE HAWTIN, YUMA – 11pm

Richie Hawtin has a long history with Coachella, not only as ‘Richie Hawtin’ but also as his alter ego PLASTIKMAN–he performed at the first Coachella in 1999 and brought his spectacular PLASTIKMAN LIVE full production show to the festival in 2010. In 1998, Rich released under his Plastikman moniker Consumed, an album that is considered a seminal body of work for the genre and inspired many forward-thinking creative minds (Raf Simons for one). Another artist heavily influenced by Consumed was Chilly Gonzales, the GRAMMY Award-winning Canadian pianist and entertainer who approaches the piano with classical and jazz training, but with the attitude of a rapper. He has performed and written songs with Daft Punk (In 2014 he won a GRAMMY for his collaboration on their ‘Album of the Year’ Random Access Memories), Jarvis Cocker, Feist and Drake, among others and holds the Guinness world record for the longest solo concert at over 27 hours. On April 1, Turbo Recordings released Consumed In Key from Plastikman & Chilly Gonzales. A reimagining of Consumed, it is a new collaborative composition between original artist Richie Hawtin and musical genius Chilly Gonzales brought into the world by Executive Producer & co-visionary Tiga.  www.consumedinkey.com

Contemporary electronic music powerhouse Duke Dumont is bringing his extraordinary ‘DUALITY LIVE’ show to Coachella. It’s duality theme occurs on two levels – visually and sonically. Throughout the show, Duke Dumont will perform between two-layer optics, from the dual LED wall structure and interaction between the screens in addition to the actual visuals themselves. Duke Dumont’s DUALITY LIVE’s show concept has dualism interwoven on all levels. Some overt and some hidden. “My aim was to create an electronic opera, with polar opposite themes that come together as one. The show on one hand has authoritative elements demonstrated on the song ‘OBEY’, to the polar opposite being the freedom and oneness that is experienced on the song ‘Together.’”

A production dynamo responsible for a stunning back catalog that includes international chart-topping hits, multiple Grammy nominations and bumpin’ house music underground productions, Duke Dumont is able to deconstruct and reconstruct his music which is not possible with DJing. Revolving around having instant access to loops of sounds & synthesizers Dumont will perform with a wide variety of gear from custom modular synths and Moogs to a TR 808, vocoder and more. Duke Dumont’s staggering 2020 album DUALITY is a culmination of his years of experience and a cathartic expression of his desire to embody the mentality of a true artist, liberated from genre specifics. Helped out by the platinum timeless hit “Ocean Drive,” the album has achieved over one billion cumulative streams globally. DUALITY’s 10 songs are split into two halves, one dancefloor-oriented and one introspective. Besides Duke Dumont’s own production and a brilliant array of vocal features, DUALITY also incorporates live string arrangements, guitar players, drummers, and stunning piano work.
