Barcelona’s Gespona distils his evolution as a producer into ‘Momentum’, a four-track EP arriving via Crosstown Rebels’ sister imprint, Rebellion. His debut comes naturally, following key support from label boss Damian Lazarus as well as other renowned tastemakers including John Digweed, Sasha, Âme, and Echonomist, and adds to the Beatport chart-topping success of ‘FadeRRR’ on his own Rummel imprint. With a sound that traverses deep, hypnotic, and melodic house and techno, Gespona has increasingly made a mark worldwide, performing at venues such as Stereo, Klein, Sisyphos, Volt, and more. Arriving on 10th July, the EP unveils four cuts that hone in on his production ethos, each equally free from barriers and predictable formulas.
“The ‘Momentum’ EP is definitely one of my favourite releases of my career. I think the four tracks each have a different groove and vibe, while still connecting really well as an EP… ‘Jumbo’ was produced in 2024, ‘Represent’ and ‘The Drum’ in 2025, and ‘Momentum’ in the first days of 2026. Because of that, I think this EP really represents my journey as a producer over the last few years.” – Gespona.
Opening the EP, ‘Momentum’ unfolds with a measured sense of tension as hard-hitting kicks and vocal fragments emerge through a slow-burning arrangement, while sirens and brooding atmospherics steadily intensify the pressure. Anchored by powerful, rolling rhythms, ‘Represent’ is rich in emotion and movement, with expansive melodies soaring above the groove to create an uplifting yet driving cinematic journey. ‘The Drum’ centres around a bed of rattling percussion, gradually introducing deep, emotive synth work and commanding vocal passages. Closing the package, ‘Jumbo’ takes a darker, more experimental route, with dubbed kicks intertwining with organic sonics and hypnotic arpeggios.
