Setting the tone, “Lyrical Miracle” is the definition of modern nostalgia. Oozing a classic appeal, GHSTGHSTGHST fuses retro techno and trance elements including wahwahing synth rolls, driving hoover lines, epic risers, and sharp hats. The track tips its hat to the ‘90s rave classics while injecting a fresh UK garage twist. Cheeky vocal samples are sprinkled throughout, getting chopped and looped while leaving room to breathe before the drops. As the lyrics not-so-subtly suggest, the bassline will make the head spin while commanding the feet. “Lyrical Miracle” finds the rare balance of feeling instantly familiar while remaining incredibly fresh. The track has been getting early live support from the likes of Solomun, Mau P, Danny Howard, and more.
“Go Down” closes out the affair with a rocketing pace. Energetic drums set the stage as revving synths creating a rising, fuel-injected feel that simulates hitting the afterburners on a futuristic freeway in the dead of the night. The high-octane ripper keeps the suspense piling up throughout, while consistently feeding the urge to start dancing. Hypnotic yet simplistic vocal samples move from questioning to commanding, giving the cut a catchy edge. Pulsing kicks, driving drums, and booming low-end round out the drops, and, in turn, priming the track to ignite dancefloors. Dizzying, deadly, and draped in swagger, “Go Down” is a fortified house heater that’s not afraid to put the pedal to the metal.
GHSTGHSTGHST shares his excitement around the release, saying, “Not a lot of people know this, but my mum’s side of the family is American—they’re the reason I love the NFL and the Seattle Seahawks #GOHAWKS #12THMAN. So, releasing on a US label has always been an ambition of mine, as it brings me closer to my family Stateside. Getting to release on HARD Recs with Insomniac, the biggest and baddest, is a dream come true. Fair warning: Gonna have a hench guestlist for any EDC events in Seattle and Chicago.”
Hailing from East London and now living in Belfast, GHSTGHSTGHST only shows his face at raves.
