GRAMMY HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDING JACK U’S ACOUSTIC PERFORMANCE
History was made during the 58th Annual Grammy Awards last night. With her album1989, Taylor Swift received the Grammy for Album of the Year, making her the first female to win this award twice. She took advantage of her acceptance speech to not only empower women but to call out Kanye, too (see video below).
Ed Sheeran took home the award for Song of the Year with his “Thinking Out Loud,” while Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson took home Record of the Year for “Uptown Funk.”
Kendrick Lamar went home with four awards including Best Rap Album for his To Pimp a Butterfly, Best Rap Song for “Alright” and Best Rap Performance. He also left attendees and viewers with what critics are calling an incendiary live performance.
Another highlight performance was Lady Gaga’s spot-on David Bowie tribute. From her costume to her energy to her renditions of Bowie’s most iconic songs, everyone seems to agree that no one could have delivered a more perfect and passionate performance to honor the legendary rock star.
Last but not least, Jack Ü won the award for Best Dance/Electronic Album with their debut collaborative album, Skrillex and Diplo Present Jack Ü. But that wasn’t all Skrillex and Diplo also took home Best Dance Recording with Justin Bieber for their hit song “Where Are Ü Now.” While it was Bieber’s first-ever Grammy, two more to Skrillex’s shelf officially crowned him the most-winning electronic artist of all time, dethroning none other than Daft Punk with his now eight Grammy awards.
Watch Skrillex and Diplo’s acceptance speeches for both awards below as well as their acoustic performance of “Where Are Ü Now” with Justin Bieber after the pop singer does a stripped-down solo version of his song “Love Yourself.” Skrillex shredded on the guitar while Diplo took on keys and percussion duties.
Congrats to all of this year’s Grammy winners!
