With years of experience behind him, Jordan Peak has developed a sound that draws from the deeper, more driving sides of house, with classic US influences coming through in his use of rhythm, bass, and vocal hooks. His run of releases across Defected, Edible, Saved, Three Six Zero Recordings, Warehouse Project, STORIES and Dansu Discs has brought that sound to a truly global audience, building on the foundations established throughout his career. Support from Pete Tong, CHRIS STASSY, Patrick Topping, Peggy Gou and TSHA has also followed, while his own Peak Trax imprint has provided another outlet for his productions and musical vision, and he now adds a new label to the catalogue as he makes his debut on Prunk’s PIV imprint.
‘Be With Me’ arrives after building a strong reputation as an ID all summer long, with its combination of heavy drums, a deep, hypnotic bassline and a hook that stays present throughout. It leans into a classic feel, particularly in the relationship between the bass and drums. Yet, it feels entirely fresh, leading to high-profile plays in various sets throughout the year. Label favourite Kellie Allen then takes the record in a different direction, opening up the original’s darker foundations with brighter synth work and a more euphoric feel. The core elements remain recognisable, but the added melodic lift gives the track a different character, making for a natural counterpart to Peak’s original.
