Norwegian tropical house sensation Kygo last night (Feb. 11) provided an upbeat prelude to the Grammys in a rare intimate play at Los Angeles’ Create nightclub for Billboard and Mastercard’s showcase.
While a brief bout of technical difficulties caused the sound to cut out after one song, the issue was swiftly assuaged as the packed club swelled with cheers to greet the artist’s iconic remix of Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing.”

Kygo treated attendees to both original cuts like new single, “Stay,” featuring Maty Noyes and plenty of remixes — from early career staples like Seinabo Sey’s “Younger” and Syn Cole’s “Miami 82” to latter day favorites by Calvin Harris and Gryffin.

Grinning and swaying to the music while his manager Myles Shear presided over the scene in a pineapple-dotted bucket hat, Kygo was clearly enjoying himself as he mixed between crowd pleasing classics like Paul Simon’s “You Can Call Me Al” and Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing.”
“Thank you so much L.A.,” Kygo announced ahead of debut single, “Firestone.” “If you know the words, sing along.”

The Bergen native had one final surprise for the energetic audience, bringing out Parson James for a spirited rendition of their collaborative single, “Stole the Show.” As confetti rained down on the dance floor, James thanked the crowd profusely for their support.
