Leotrix Sculpts Unique Space in Dubstep With Squishy, Melancholic Riddim Single “Dub For Moving On” via Gud Vibrations

The Sydney-born producer returns to NGHTMRE and SLANDER’s label after four years with his follow-up single, a hypnotic and minimalistic riddim single oozing melancholia.

Australian bass enigma Leotrix returns to Gud Vibrations with “Dub For Moving On,” a cerebral yet crushing riddim piece that reasserts his role as one of electronic music’s most forward-bending producers. Out December 12th, the single marks his first appearance on the label in four years—a reflective but hard-charging dispatch from an artist who never stops reshaping the edges of bass music.

“Dub For Moving On” operates with a level of restraint that feels almost architectural. Instead of leaning into midrange mayhem, Leotrix sculpts the track around tension: squelched sub-bass swells, pitch-warped motifs, and keowing mechanical accents that fold the space inward. Its minimalism is intentional and hypnotic, every element locking into place with mechanical precision. Beneath the grit, though, runs a quiet emotional current—a subtle melancholy that anchors the track’s otherwise jagged riddim framework.

‘Dub For Moving On’ was a tune I started four years ago. I wanted to make dubstep that had its own flair and sensibility to it without needing intense mid range bass like some of my other released music.

The release lands as a full-circle moment for Leotrix, whose earliest Gud Vibrations outings—“Taking Back,” “New Lesson,” and his Moody Good collaboration “Crackshot”– set the tone for his ascent. In the years since, the Denver transplant has become a fixture in the global bass landscape, distinguished by his leftfield sound design and instinctive rhythmic sensibility. His catalog has earned support from Skrillex, Noisia, Zeds Dead, Subtronics, Mersiv, Peekaboo, Eliminate, QUIX, Deathpact, Ghastly, OG Nixin, Samplifire, and Flux Pavilion, alongside radio presence on Triple J and George FM.

Even at 25, Leotrix carries a decade of experimentation across dubstep, trap, drum & bass, UKG, and 140—an expansive catalog marked by technical rigor and constant reinvention. His releases span influential imprints such as Monstercat, Disciple, Bassrush, UKF, Cyclops Recordings, and the shuttered Never Say Die, accumulating over 30 million streams and multiple Beatport No. 1s. Onstage, he has left a mark at Rampage, Lost Lands, and Ultra Music Festival, supported by tours through Japan, Hong Kong, Europe, and a debut 35-date U.S. headline run.

With “Dub For Moving On,” Leotrix channels that momentum into something more introspective—a track about progress that doesn’t sprint ahead so much as it navigates through the fog with clarity and intent. Its stripped-back structure and subtle key shifts make it feel both meditative and menacing, a duality that sits at the core of his evolution.

A decade into his journey, Leotrix continues to orbit just outside convention—refusing repetition even as his influence deepens. Returning to Gud Vibrations to drop “Dub For Moving On” is a reminder that the genre’s most forward-thinking voices often emerge from moments of stillness, recalibration, and the willingness to begin again.
