Right before he starts shooting his new feature film, Lucas Harmon is using his time wisely – to release new music. Based out of Nashville, he has already amassed hundreds of thousands of streams with his first three songs, and now sets his eyes ahead to new single ‘Emilee’ – Out on April 20th.
Produced by two time Grammy-Nominated Shane Adams and co-produced by Taylor “Housten” Dunn, ‘Emilee’ showcases Lucas’ songwriting at its best. A natural storyteller, Lucas describes in the song an encounter with a girl he met at a bar. This song is his hindsight, saying all the things he should have said at the time.
Playful lyrics and catchy melodies throughout draw us into his world, but what brings the listener back to listening again and again, is the hint of a subtle undertone throughout – which Lucas implies is due to Emilee’s secret. In the hope of moving to Europe, Emilee dropped out of school and got a job as a stripper, which sadly led to her selling herself at night.
On the track, Harmon says:
“ I saw a woman with a true passion for the arts, and her current lifestyle was not working for her. She had fallen into something that was causing her deep emotional pain.”
In ‘Emilee’, Lucas shows us through his music that it is okay to be vulnerable in this world. “I’ve lived a life full of intense emotion, and I just want to share that through my music by being open and honest. Life can truly be incredible and filled with extreme happiness, but on the other side of that, life can be brutally painful and challenging. Both will come and go in waves.”
The positive spin on a dark tale are the things that make the song unique, in both musicality and the character of the real life person. There is honour in telling your own story, but grace in telling someone else’s, herein lies the beauty of Lucas Harmon’s new single, out on the 20th of April on all DSPs.
