Massi Rocket is an Italian powerhouse who has been shaping the Milanese scene for years. As well as owning the iconic Rocket Club and programming both international bookings and platforming local talent, he throws his own cult tech-house night, Motel Calypso, which also serves as the name of his label. As well as releasing on it, he has landed on Spinnin’ Records and MIAW with a range of deep, tech and minimal sounds. For this one, he links with Naples-born Alfrenk, who has been producing for more than a decade on plenty of key labels, always with a distinctive character.
The superb ‘Tribal Vibes’ is the result of the two artists letting creativity lead the way. Step by step, Massi Rocket and Alfrenk built the track from the ground up and allowed every groove, percussion, and sound to reflect exactly what they were feeling in that moment. Say the pair, “Tribal Vibes is more than a club record. It’s a snapshot of a creative moment where instinct took over, and we turned emotion into rhythm to connect people through the universal language of the dancefloor.“
Musically, the track is powered by tribal drums that create a minimal groove, leaving space for the music to breathe. A gentle patter of toms is sprinkled over the kicks, with airy hi-hats and loopy bass keeping you locked as guitar twangs and spoken words add ear character to what is a deliciously warm and infectious cut.
