Following their first joint outing on Crosstown Rebels in September, Monolink and CIOZ return to Damian Lazarus’ imprint with the second part of the project, ‘Wasting Time’. Where ‘Don’t Talk To Me’ introduced their pared-back blend of alternative songwriting and electronic production, the latest instalment shifts towards a sweeping collaboration built around Monolink’s distinctive vocal and CIOZ’s detailed production.
‘Wasting Time’ unfolds patiently, with Monolink’s vocal set against spacious electronics, subtle melodic movement and synthflourishes. The arrangement stays uncluttered, with vocal phrases and electronic details moving in and out of focus. Completing the release, OMRI. returns to Crosstown to revisit ‘Don’t Talk To Me’. Now a familiar presence on the label, he draws the original into darker, more hypnotic territory, adding club weight while keeping Monolink’s vocal at the centre.
Monolink’s longstanding global appeal stems from his unique ability to move naturally between songwriter, producer and live musician, with a body of work equally suited to concert stages and electronic spaces. That approach has taken him from Burning Man and Montreux Jazz Festival to Day Zero Bali, alongside releases through Embassy One and Cercle Records. CIOZ brings similar flexibility, moving between solo productions, collaborations and remixes, with a catalogue spanning Crosstown Rebels, Monaberry, Frau Blau, Stil vor Talent and Get Physical. Here, Monolink’s songwriting and CIOZ’s production sit side by side once again, giving the second release a different pull from the track that introduced the pair earlier this year.
Monolink & CIOZ ‘Wasting Time’ drops via Crosstown Rebels on 6th November 2026.
