Having explored different corners of house music throughout his career, Philip George’s recent output has leaned into UK garage and minimal-leaning sounds, with a strong musical sensibility running throughout. Collaborations with house pioneers Mood II Swing, plus remixes for Kerri Chandler, KETTAMA & Interplanetary Criminal, and I.JORDAN & Kimii, and original releases on Burnski’s Reliance Recordings and Dansu Discs have further developed his sound – attracting support from the likes of Sidney Charles, Luuk Van Dijk, CHRIS STASSY, Kepler, Locklead and Saoirse.
That run now brings him to Prunk’s PIV for his label debut with his ‘Stronger’ EP. The title track has a classic feel, with crisp garage beats and a soulful vocal sure to create special moments on the dancefloor. ‘Direction’ offers a more driving, tougher floor-filler with punchy beats, as a deep organ riff and filtered synths build around a spoken word vocal. Closing the package, label regulars Retrouve put their own spin on ‘Direction’, adding their signature touch with a growling bassline and that deep yet uplifting energy to complete the EP.
