After releasing their debut single “Letting Go” to acclaim from Mixmag, Pete Tong (BBC) and Jason Bentley (KCRW) to name a few, Mont Blvck takes another step forward with the new their first solo EP “Lost Tapes.”
Lost Tapes is a raw and honest look at what’s beautiful about the ups and downs of the creative process: it took a robbery (resulting in the loss of 5 years of music projects) to show the group just how much they had actually written. “Lost Tapes” is a collection of the records that made it through the incident – a new growth emerging from the loss.
Both musically and lyrically, “Forget” evokes the bittersweet haze that exists between dreams and reality. The driving mechanical rhythm provides a bold and charismatic contrast to the lilting falsetto that lays a pop sheen over the top. The other “Lost Tapes” speak to the diversity of Mont Blvck’s influences, from the alt-pop of “Before The Day Ends” and “Change Of Color,” to the funky grooves of “Trouble,” and the more classic approach of “Caught At The Station.”
