Marking their sixth single on the label since debuting the project in 2023, “Blast From The Past” harbors the mainroom intensity of melodic techno, with its suspenseful sci-fi style vocal cues calling back to the big bang. The track’s chugging drive is charged up by menacing rattling leads, rolling basslines, and psy-infused atmospherics, peeling back its peak-time power for a cosmic breakdown built around spacey synth lines that sweep through the space amidst twinkling textures and deep analog pads. It is the next offering leading up to Dreamstate’s 10-year milestone.

“Blast From The Past actually started as a short intro we made just for our Dreamstate SoCal set, and at first that was its only purpose,” shares nilsix. “But the crowd reaction was so strong and people kept asking about it, so we decided to turn it into a full track. To now have it chosen as the opening track of the Dreamstate compilation feels full-circle – it’s the perfect home for the record given its history.”

nilsix is the brainchild of two esteemed dance music virtuosos, Norwegian’s Orjan Nilsen and Breda’s Mark Sixma, applying their shared decades-long experience in the studio as a bridge for them to veer off into an array of adjacent peak-time genres scaled for the dancefloor. nilsix most recently appeared on the label this year with their single “Ghost in the Machine,” landing radio plays from Armin van Buuren, Solarstone, Andrew Rayel, Nifra, Corti Organ, and AFT.

The project’s electrifying sets have landed them performances at esteemed festivals, including Dreamstate SoCal, EDC Las Vegas, A State of Trance Rotterdam, Transmission Festival, Creamfields, Trencera, and Groove Cruise. Looking ahead, they are hosting their ‘The Nightshift’ party featuring a full night of curated b2b sets.

With “Blast From The Past,” nilsix masterfully curates a transcendental track, weaving together the nostalgic euphoria of their classic trance sound with cutting-edge melodic techno rhythms.
