KOTA (BR) is half of HIGHLOW, but he’s been working for years to develop his solo sound. Inspired by the more emotional end of the spectrum, he blends Afro, melodic and deeper electronic influences into his work, often with subtle vocals that make all the difference. He has long released edits of classics that blend rap, trap, and hip-hop, and he brings that knowledge of how to hook a floor to this debut on Stereo MC’s connected.
His fantastic ‘Do You Want Me?’ has a deep-rooted groove but rolls forward under pensive, melancholic piano chords, with zippy synths adding texture. Smoky, warm, wordless vocals turn into heart-aching pleas, adding a devastating edge and ensuring this one leaves an indelible mark on the soul.
KOTA (BR)’s ‘Do You Want Me?’ comes via Connected on 30th October 2026.
