OOTORO Bridges His Bass-Heavy Roots With Wide Array of Influences on Polished Five-Track House EP ‘CULT CHROME’ on NIGHTMODE

Indonesian house innovator OOTORO delivers his boldest statement yet with the ‘CULT CHROME’ EP, set to drop on December 13 via NIGHTMODE. A master at blending bassline, disco, UK garage, and tech house, OOTORO presents five tracks that bridge his bass-heavy roots with a future-facing sound. The EP opens with the previously-released “The Plot,” a gritty collaboration with rapper A. Nayaka. Here, relentless basslines and sharp bars set a commanding tone for the project.

At the heart of the collection is “Control,” a cinematic bassline gem that unfolds with a moody intro, warped vocal hooks, and pulsating basslines interlaced with shimmering synth stabs, glitchy textures, and breakbeat-inspired rhythms. Choral harmonies and sleek hip-hop influences elevate the track, resulting in a captivating blend of intricate sound design and dancefloor energy.

Further highlights include “Mugwanti” with Decemberkid, an electrifying nod to breaks and bass euphoria, driven by vibrant Portuguese vocal chops and fast-paced percussion. “Rambo” layers deep tech textures over hypnotic grooves, while “40 Degrees,” a collaboration with Matsu, closes the EP with a bouncy, club-ready anthem that pushes OOTORO’s sonic boundaries.

This EP follows a milestone 2024 for OOTORO. Building on his breakout U.S. tour in 2023, he appeared at major festivals like Project Glow, Beyond Wonderland, and Miami Music Week, and supported AC Slater on a series of high-energy shows. His releases have earned airplay from SiriusXM and recognition from heavyweights like Zedd, NGHTMRE, and Habstrakt, solidifying his global presence.

CULT CHROME underscores OOTORO’s evolution as a producer, refining his sound while expanding the horizons of bass house. As NIGHTMODE continues to spotlight cutting-edge talent, this release adds another chapter to their dynamic catalog. With whispers of a major Brownies & Lemonade appearance in 2025, OOTORO’s trajectory continues to excite fans and industry alike.

“This EP has been the most exciting thing I’ve worked on in a while, and I’m really happy with how it all turned out and the way it all came together. NIGHTMODE has been an incredible label and partner to work with, and I can’t thank them enough for believing in my vision and being so supportive every step of the way.”—OOTORO

More About OOTORO

Jakarta native OOTORO took 2024 by storm after a standout year in 2023. After acquiring the necessary work visa, OOTORO performed for the first of many times in the US — taking the stage with the likes of Zedd, Malaa, AC Slater, and more at Los Angeles and San Diego events, along with his first stateside headline show in Denver. OOTORO also got his first taste of a proper MMW — playing multiple events in Miami this year including STMPD, while also getting a taste of American festivals like Project Glow, Beyond Wonderland, and more. Releases were plentiful and received community and critic support alike, with tunes dropping on labels such as STMPD, NIGHTMODE, and Malaa’s Illegal Mixtape, which were played out by big name DJs and peers of OOTORO worldwide. OOTORO has his sights on a solid ending to the year while getting primed for 2025. NIGHTMODE is releasing his CULT CHROME EP, with plenty of tour dates incoming for spring and summer this coming year.
