Shock One started out as two guys from Perth, Australia, Jay Burns & Karl Thomas. They’d been in a metal band with Rob Swire & Gareth McGrillen, and after they left to form Pendulum, Jay & Karl formed Shock One. Later Jay Burns left Shock One, leaving just Karl Thomas. Originally from Esperance, Western Australia, he now resides in Perth.
