Ossie returns to Heist Recordings this October with ‘Motivation’, a four-track EP that once again finds the UK producer drawing from the deep well of house, garage and soul. Following 2025’s ‘That’s A Vibe’ EP, which won the hearts of Gilles Peterson, DJ Target, Danny Howard and more, Ossie returns to Dam Swindle’s imprint with another stellar four-tracker.
Opener ‘Motivation’ blends US garage and deep house into a bouncy groove driven by supple chords that ride up and down the scale, while Miraa May brings the sensual sauce up top with a mix of smooth hooks and wordless ad-libs. ‘Can It Get Any Better?’ taps into the classic era of truly musical house, pairing swirling pads and piano with subtle filter work that dials the energy back before turning up the heat.
On the flip, ‘Left Side’ is effortlessly cool and silky, with vocal motifs drifting next to flourishes of melody that bring Caribbean sunshine to the mix. Closer ‘Don’t Stop’ is a sweaty bouncer with raw chords chopping through solid, chunky house drums for peak-time play.
Active for more than a decade, Londoner Ossie has carved out a distinctive sound across house, garage and soul, drawing freely from UK and US club traditions. His productions have earned support from Gilles Peterson, Four Tet and Kerri Chandler, and have found a home on Hyperdub, Exploited and Skepta & Jammer’s Más Tiempo imprint.
Ossie’s ‘Motivation’ EP drops via Heist Recordings on 23rd October 2026, with the title cut arriving October 9.
