Dallas-based producer Perry Wayne is an anomaly in the dubstep scene, known for fusing immersive worldbuilding, dystopian themes, and epic storytelling with his penchant for brutal bass music. Aptly titled, “Apocalypse” spells out the destruction of the world. The diabolic riddim single is ready to annihilate anything in its path. Opening with powerful metal guitar riffs and massive drum lines, the threat of impending doom is forewarned and blatant from the outset. Menacing screamed vocals preface the drop and cut throughout, furthering the merciless metal edge. Hitting with cataclysmic force, the drops see trudging sub-bass, fierce laser-led synths, wailing synth shots, cheeky vocal samples, and a sobering sense of rage courtesy of the screamed vocals. The electric explosion hits harder than 100,000 volts, shocking and incinerating everything in its wake. “Apocalypse” mixes metal influences with metallic sound design for a bloodthirsty dubstep destroyer.
