STARSIGNS—the show-stopping trio composed of dance music stars yetep, Manila Killa, and MYRNE—are ushering in an EDM revival with an ambitious three-pronged project. The supergroup is returning to Lost In Dreams Records to reveal their debut EP, ‘FIRE SIGNS,’ arriving on the hindlegs of their inaugural single “Leo (Flicker)” released earlier last month.

STARSIGNS channels a return-to-form for the trio, delivering a project inspired by golden-era EDM while pairing it with a flair for the astral. The three-track FIRE SIGNS EP pays homage to the fire signs of the zodiac (Aries / Leo / Sagittarius), incorporating its themes for a bold, passionate debut in the summer.
“Leo (Flicker)” was the apt lead single that put the three-piece outfit into orbit. Featuring vocals by by UK singer/songwriter George Gleeson (and co-written in Dublin alongside Gold-certified, Billboard #1 sensation Liam Geddes), the track was a stellar debut for STARSIGNS. Gleeson’s anthemic vocals blend seamlessly with STARSIGNS’ razor-clean, euphoric production – culminating in a progressive house groove that feels fresh but familiar.
Shifting the focus at the midpoint is track number two: “Aries (Mean Something 2 U),” a hard-hitting track aptly named after the ram. The song features L.A-based powerhouse production/vocalist/DJ duo Z3LLA (who have enjoyed previous releases with ARMNHMR, Glass Petals, and Koastle) for an emotionally charged number. On Aries (Mean Something 2 U), Z3LLA intones themes of unreciprocated love; underneath, and trance-infused melodies and gritty offbeat basses unite the two elements in a thunderous, progressive flow. The three-and-a-half minute song climaxes in a ferocious, arena-sized second drop, where stadium drums and acid-trance basses reinvent the two collaborators’ earlier motifs.
STARSIGNS shines a light on the song with a special reading: “PLANETARY ALIGNMENTS SUGGEST THAT EMBRACING CHANGE AND FOLLOWING YOUR INSTINCTS TODAY COULD LEAD TO OUTSTANDING AND TRANSFORMATIVE OUTCOMES. IT MIGHT SOUND CRAZY TO YOU, BUT CRAZIER THINGS HAVE BEEN DONE. LET ‘ARIES (MEAN SOMETHING 2 U)’ SOUNDTRACK THE ADVENTURES TO COME.”
Z3LLA touches on the meaning behind the track, adding, “‘Mean Something 2 U’ is an emotional piece of reflection. It is about yearning for someone to feel the same way you do about them. You want to mean just as much to them as they do to you. Even if it means convincing yourself.”
Closing out the FIRE SIGNS EP is the adventurous, thrill-seeking “Sagittarius (Paradise).” A welcome instrumental on an EP filled with star-studded vocal collaborations, Sagittarius (Paradise) opens with a simple, catchy melody that ignites a feeling of exploration and interstellar flight. A large hands-up moment soon follows, before the track raises the roof with an energetic, psy-infused climax that guarantees a long-standing spot in a multitude of DJ sets.

At the end of July, STARSIGNS manifested their debut live performance, inviting the world into their universe during their set at Lost In Dreams Festival, which was hosted in the heart of Downtown LA. Hidden amongst the cluster of remixes, mashups and reprisals of fan-favorite EDM throwbacks were over 15 IDs that have since turned the internet abuzz with anticipation for new music from the skies above. And STARSIGNS have now answered that call.
With their new ‘FIRE SIGNS’ EP, STARSIGNS revives a world of euphoria and anthemic dance music that was lost, but never forgotten. Incorporating influences from a decade ago (and ahead), STARSIGNS is a futureproof, star-studded affair that our generation didn’t know it needed. And perhaps the most promising part is that there lie many more constellations for STARSIGNS to write about.
