“HURRICANE” opens with a deceptive calm—harpsichord lines float beneath a haunting vocal motif, setting the stage for a sudden shift. The tranquility fractures as blaring horn stabs usher in a blitz of serrated laser synths, syncopated vocal chops, and chest-rattling sub-bass. It’s a masterclass in contrast: cinematic yet violent, deliberate yet chaotic. In the second half, RIOT cranks the intensity even further, fusing their signature dubstep-metal hybrid into a blistering climax that’s as volatile as it is calculated.
Summing up their newest offering succinctly, RIOT says, “‘Hurricane’ marks the fourth chapter of our upcoming album, and with it, we dive into the cold, calculated heart of the machine.”
The track marks a pivotal moment in the album’s evolving narrative, a sonic turning point where the cold, calculated “machine” begins to strike back. “HURRICANE” not only showcases RIOT’s explosive production chops; it delivers a concept-driven statement carved from their most audacious ideas yet.
The release follows a trio of lead singles through Gud Vibrations—“Back To Back,” “Everynight,” and “Try Again”—each unveiling a different facet of the album’s creative DNA. “Try Again” earned nods from UKF, Indie Dream, and Skope Mag, plus radio play from Illenium, underscoring the duo’s rising impact across both press and airwaves.
Known for fusing progressive metal with future-facing bass, RIOT has built a catalog that spans chart-topping originals and high-profile collaborations with SLANDER, Kayzo, and Dirtyphonics. Their debut LP ‘Dogma Resistance’ amassed over 85 million streams, while tracks like “Wake Up” and “You Don’t Even Know Me” remain festival staples worldwide.
With festival appearances confirmed at Shambhala and Dancefestopia and a headline tour on the horizon, “HURRICANE” signals a critical point in RIOT’s current creative cycle—and a preview of the direction their next full-length body of work is headed.
RIOT’s new single “Hurricane” is available on all platforms via Gud Vibrations.
