Celebrating Rekids’ 300th release and 20th anniversary, Detroit legend Robert Hood and Rekids boss Matt Edwards, aka Radio Slave, collaborate for the first time on the double-A side ‘Radio Hood’, releasing on 16th October.
First appearing on Rekids with iconic remixes of Radio Slave’s ‘Don’t Stop No Sleep’ in 2015, followed by Floorplan remixes of ‘Feel The Same’ in 2017, Hood went on to drop two EPs and the critically acclaimed ‘Mirror Man’LP between 2020 and 2021. Now, a long-gestated collaboration between the two producers arrives as ‘Radio Hood’ complete with an alternative ‘Version’ mix.

While Radio Slave and Robert Hood are best known for a minimalist approach, ‘Radio Hood’ and ‘Radio Hood’ (Version) flip the script with rich, maximalist textures and sweeping synths. The lead track is spacious, with unmistakable and persistent stabs pulsing from start to finish, whilst Version is an indulgent, nine-minute-fifty-two-second stunner with sweeping, emotive strings, a subtly growling Reece bassline and serious emotional impact.

In two decades of operations, Matt Edwards, aka Radio Slave, has helmed one of the most impactful dance music labels of the 21st century. Joe Claussell, Robert Hood, Ian Pooley, and Mark Broom are just a handful of storied artists who have called the label home, while once-fledgling acts like Nina Kraviz, Peggy Gou, and Theo Nasa cut their teeth with Rekids early in their careers. Never ploughing just one furrow, deep house, house, techno, electro, ambient works, and more have flowed out of Edwards’ imprint, with his own critically acclaimed material traversing each genre touchpoint too.
With offshoots RSPX and Rek’d, the House of Rekids club nights, a label residency at Berghain that stretches almost 19 years, and collaborations with Japanese clothing brands such as Is-ness and Beams, as well as art-toy manufacturer Medicom, Rekids frequently spreads its wings, but remains fiercely independent, punching above its weight and still focused on the core message: it’s the music that matters.
Since the beginning of 2026, Rekids 20 Parties have taken over Panorama Bar (and the Garten), Winter Music Conference, FVTVR (Paris), Sala Bikini (Barcelona), Ampere (Antwerp) and more, with the likes of Luke Una, Danny Tenaglia, DJ Minx, Anja Schneider, Tal Fussman, Mathias Kaden, Monty Luke, and more.
