Scottish DJ, producer and Johnny Johnny Records boss Modat makes his debut on Radio Slave‘s REK’D with the ‘Dashin’ EP, arriving 21st August 2026. He kicks things off with ‘Still Dashin’, a dubbed-out adventure complete with glitchy stabs, acid licks and a subtle shuffle through its straight house groove. It’s followed by ‘Phreak Out’, which places a playful spoken-word vocal alongside its wonky low-end, before ‘Thawber’ delivers another deep and stripped-back cut. Closing the EP, ‘Dish Dash’ pairs futuristic modular bleeps with a tight late-night rhythm to round off the release in style.
“I don’t tend to overthink the ‘why’ behind making music. I just enjoy sitting down, making tunes, and seeing where it leads. With the Dashing EP, the only real brief was to make four records that felt built for the club: energetic, functional, and each with its own personality. Listening back, I can hear a bit of my older Nico Mendez sound creeping back in, which wasn’t intentional. But I’m not arguing with it either.” – Modat
Glasgow’s Modat, aka Beau You Know, has been a fixture of the UK’s underground house and techno scene since 2010. Alongside appearances at venues and festivals including The Berkeley Suite, The Mash House, Hideout Festival and Platform 18, he heads up Johnny Johnny Records, launched in 2017, and its sister imprint Rhythm.
Matt Edwards launched REK’D in October 2024 to release no-nonsense house music without the limitations of parent label Rekids. It has since become a home for dancefloor-focused EPs from artists including Avision, Ketiov & Edvvin, Khadija, Rocco Rodamaal, and more.
