Stefanie Egedy presents BODIES AND SUBWOOFERS (B.A.S.) 8.0: PERMANENZA.
A sound installation by Stefanie Egedy composed of eight J-INFRA subwoofers by d&b arranged in an End-Fire Array that, through low-frequency sound waves, creates a vibrational experience for both body and mind.
The project, curated by Threes and coordinated by Matthew Noble, is part of Una Boccata d’Arte, a contemporary art project promoted by Fondazione Elpis in collaboration with Galleria Continua and with the participation of Threes.
Stefanie Egedy investigates sound as a composer of conceptual pieces, music, commissioned works, and electronic music. She is focused on researching possibilities with low-frequency sound, bodies, and subwoofers. Her work stems from installations to live performances as sonic propositions, building a body of work called BODIES AND SUBWOOFERS (B.A.S.). Sub-bass, bass, infrasound, subwoofers, and their therapeutical effects (relaxation, reduction of stress and anxiety) along with their capacity to make themselves present in a space, are the foundations of her artistic practice. Alongside possibilities of interaction between human/architectural bodies and sound waves using field recordings, analog, and digital synthesis. Besieged by this scenario, Egedy articulates the cross-over between sonorous and musical language to investigate sonic communication between beings.
