Last year, two extraordinary forces in the world of melodic bass, Taylor Kade and Fixion, tugged at the heartstrings with their poignant and self-aware anthem, “Better This Way.” Now, the power pairing is priming their breathtaking single for the 2025 festival season with the official ‘Better This Way (Remixes)’ package. Arriving courtesy of Lost In Dreams Records on June 18, the follow-up offering features six new versions of the vocal-driven banger—including reworks for Danny Olson, Kaidro, Howlan, XLVR, and Baclash, as well as their own peak-time VIP.

The two original masterminds kick off the affair with their highly anticipated “Better This Way (VIP),” which has been a massive ID for the two producers this past year. Where the initial rendition was expertly arranged like a crossover pop ballad—tethered to a poignant, insightful topline poised to bring dancefloors to the brink of shedding tears—the variation in production packs a mainstage punch, while still retaining the emotion and suspense straight off the jump. The piece propels along a textbook crescendo, with tensions rising around marching percussion patterns and a grandiose orchestral backbone allowing the emotions to flow before they flip the energy on its head. Spirals of distorted, oscillating synths and pointed snares provide a screwy deep dubstep groove that make it near impossible to tell which way is up. And if the laser-loaded low-end edit wasn’t enough of a plot twist, after the second chorus break, the version closes with a cinematic drum & bass finale to polish it off.
Speaking on the dubstep update to their collab, Taylor Kade says: “We love the original so much that we felt inspired to make a heavier, bass version of it for our live sets. We finally just got to test it out at Beyond Wonderland, and it was definitely a highlight of the set. Can’t wait to finally put it out!”
Venturing into the remaining remixes, another Lost In Dreams alum, Danny Olson, showcases his show-stealing cinematic bass skills, leaning all the way into his signature symphonic, silverscreen sonic washes.
Completely changing paths at the heart of the release are three high-flying drum & bass cuts. Los Angeles-based Kaidro employs a dizzying jump-up aesthetic, adding in a full dose of gritty screech and scrape leads in-between the breaks. Finnish rising talent Howlan steps in with a glitchier approach, chopping up all the pads and lyrics into hyperactive stabs that bounce off the futuristic neuro-tinged finish. Rounding out the DnB run is emerging liquid producer XLVR, allowing the original vocals to hold court while introducing his own delivery, turning the number into a riveting duet underpinned by soothing, subtle melody lines.
Kaidro recounts running into Taylor Kade during the first iteration of the Lost In Dreams festival at its new home in Los Angeles last year, which ultimately led to his involvement with this release: “Taylor mentioned this song to me for the first time at Lost In Dreams festival in 2024, and once I heard the vocal, I knew it would be a hit. Fast forward to him asking me to give this a remix and I was stoked to give him and Fixion something with my own spin.”
Diving into the sound of his rework, Howlan, says, “When I heard the original tune by Taylor Kade and Fixion, I instantly had an idea for a banger drum & bass remix, which blends the original vocal chops and melodies into faster and groovier rhythms, and I think it came out super sick. Hope you enjoy this one!”
Based out of Denver, dynamic producer Baclash takes the honors of closely out the affair with his genre-bending take. Melding elements of UK garage, breakbeat, and electro, the bouncy and synth juggling tune wraps things up with a refreshing, future-facing groove.
Housing six diverse, dancefloor-ready tracks, the ‘Better This Way (Remixes)’ ensures that Taylor Kade and Fixion’s anthemic vocal ballad will continue to strike continue to enchant audiences—only now, venturing allowing its emotive tug to pull to affect dance fans from different circles and scenes around the world.
