Globally renowned talents Tom & Collins and AMÉMÉ originally crossed paths at the end of last year to give life to their collab “Ando High,” a celebration of their combined cultural backgrounds via their joint offering for Insomniac Records. On it, the former’s Latin influences merged seamlessly with the latter’s Afro house sensibilities. The single is now getting a new lease of life, with reworks from Bora Uzer, Jesús Fernández, and a special VIP from the two titans themselves.

Turkish producer Bora Uzer has seen his stock skyrocket within the underground circuit in the last few years, as the multi-instrumentalist and house music phenom was named one of Pacha Ibiza’s newest residents. He steps in with the lead offering from the pack, descending into deep minimal territory with a dark, rolling club tool. It’s propelled along by sleazy synth oscillations, pulsating basslines, cowbell clanks, wailing sirens and pitched-down vocal chops peppered in throughout.
Based out of Seville, Jesús Fernández is a Spanish sensation that has established himself as an authority on both Latin and Afro grooves that have graced some of the most reputable labels in the industry. His rework finds him hitting the sweet spot of the genre Venn diagram, with tumbling tribal drums, vivacious bongo fills, jungle sound fx, dark pad swells and whistling tones powering the four-on-the-floor weapon.
Touching on how his contribution came to be, Jesús Fernández shares: “I always liked the song “Ando High,’ and I wanted to do a version in my Afro style. I decided to send it to Tom & Collins, who always treated me very well and helped me a lot with everything. It has been a pleasure to carry out this work and fortunately it can be an official remix.”
Wrapping up the affair in fine form, Mexico City production pair Tom & Collins and Brooklyn-based producer AMÉMÉ connect once again to give their smash single the VIP treatment. Refined and stripped-back, the new version peels back on the main melodic motif to let their percussive persuasions shine, with swinging drum hits and a rich matrix of deep, afro elements bolstering the hypnotic vocal hook.
Since it originally surfaced in December, “Ando High” has surpassed the 5 million stream mark, drawing coverage from Mixmag Latin America, C-Heads Magazine, CULTR, Earmilk and EKM. It also resonated with a litany of tastemakers and radio hosts, garnering plays from BBC R1 (Jeremiah Asiamiah), Kiss FM UK (DJ S.K.T, Leftwing : Kody, TCTS), Claptone, MK, Armin van Burren, CID, Eli & Fur, Lohrasp Kansara, and the list goes on and on.

More About Bora Uzer
Bora Uzer has found musical and spiritual freedom in electronic music. Most of his life has been spent creating sound, manipulating frequencies and mastering everything from guitar to his own voice. Now he is taking his off-the-cuff, improvised and fully reactive live show to crowds of music lovers around the planet and having the time of his life. Including this summer where he will be Pacha Ibiza’s newest resident for the legendary Flower Power (every Saturday from May 18-Oct 5, 2024). Each time Bora plays, he draws on the vast library of sound within him to conjure up something new. He discovered his love of music as a balance to his time as a young skateboarder where the street was his home. For Bora, music became the perfect respite while his natural talent became evident. He went on to study jazz at the Rotterdam Conservatoire of Music, and emerged as someone who can speak with, respond to, and provoke real emotion in his crowds with whatever instrument is at hand. Ultimately, even Bora doesn’t know where the music will go once he’s on stage. He is an artist who wears his heart on his sleeve and it shows in his music, which is both captivating and honest. This latest chapter started as small, low-key and intimate gigs during a time visiting Tulum but soon word got out, the crowds began to grow and one night the influential Solomun was in attendance. Bora went on to sign an EP to Solomun’s Diynamic label, which has since been followed up by releases on the likes of seminal UK label Renaissance and New York’s iconic house music imprint Nervous Records. The people behind the respected Ibiza party Woomoon were also moved by the new live show. They took Bora to the White Isle in the summer of 2022 and saw him interact with the crowd, recording what they say into his mic and incorporating it into his seductive, soulful, melody-rich and vocal-laced sounds. Word quickly spread and he went on to wow crowds across the US on tour with the renowned Rufus Du Sol, before performing at globally renowned venues and festivals, including Denver’s Red Rocks, Ibiza’s Ushuaia, Tomorrowland Brazil, EDC Mexico, and much more. His journey in electronic music all started with a looper – a simple machine the now Miami-based Turk found himself playing with in his home studio. Every day he synced it up with his machines and was able to translate exactly what flowed from his heart. Whenever he turned on his gear, thrilling new sounds emerged. He mixed warm dance floor beats with real melody and heartfelt lyrics with elements of the funk and soul that have always been inside. He no longer sounded like himself because electronic music, like jazz, was a new world of endless expression. He could go anywhere and everywhere. He layered up riffs and chords, dropped in samples, remixed on-the-fly, and felt empowered to create on a whole new Level. To put Bora’s sound in a box is impossible. That is exactly what he is rallying against as an artist. There is no template. Everything starts from scratch. All that you can be sure of are warm, engaging low ends, signature staccato guitar, and seductive vocal tones. The rest is a response to the magic of the crowd.
