Tuccillo and The Checkup link up for ‘Aguas Con Gas’, a collaborative EP landing May 8 via the latter’s Heattraxx, backed by Reboot on remix duties.
‘Aguas Con Gas’ opens with hefty, shuffling drums and bass locked into a bubbly rhythm, while subtle vocals add warm soul. It’s a perfect groove for sun-kissed outdoor sessions where rhythm rules. ‘Snare Love’ leans into a looser, more languid feel with a jumbled arrangement — the bass dives low, as soft-edged percussion and airy hi-hats add texture before magical keys and strings bring indelible melodic charm.
On the digital flip, ‘Free My Soul’ ups the pace with a driving deep house sound that rides on thumping kicks and retro clicks. A cosmic, synth-heavy breakdown gives way to an elastic, high-impact drop. Closing out the EP is Frankfurt mainstay Reboot, whose long career has seen him release a stream of club-ready classics on Cécille and Snatch!. His mastery of percussion defines his Extra Picante Remix of ‘Aguas Con Gas’, which delivers wavy grooves and silky fills, heat-baked pads, and old-school vocal references.
Italy’s Tuccillo is a prolific artist who continues to build on timeless house foundations, with releases on Kaoz Theory, Hudd Traxx, and his own House of Tucci imprint. He is a frequent chart topper and has collaborated with legends like Satoshi Tomiie and Nightmares on Wax.
Berlin/Valencia-based artist The Checkup heads up Heattrax, a label home to house heads old and new including Roland Clark, Demuir, Riva Starr, and more. His own catalog spans Nervous and Moxy Muzik, while he also serves as Beatport’s Vice President of Global Curation and House curator.
