Taken from new 5-track EP ‘R/D’ due 29th November
Rising South-London duo Vesce [ves] continue to captivate with their unique brand of gospeltinged electronica, evident in the pair’s new offering ‘Way Back Home’, following on from the acclaimed single ‘Broken’ described by Complex Magazine as ‘boundary defying’.
Listen here:
Both tracks are taken from the new 5-track EP ‘R/D’ due this November. A breathtakingly
emotive record sees the band effortlessly drawing on soul, gospel, R&B and ambient
influences resulting in a truly seductive, kaleidoscopic soundscape. The band detail the EP:
“The inspiration of the creation of the EP was life. We created a body of work that reflected where we were at the time of creation in our personal lives and space in regards to our feelings within our selves, others around us and the relationships. The themes around the songs are based on identity, pain, love and seeing the perspectives in and around us.”
Vesce [ves] was born out of friendship and a passion for creating organic introspective music.
The duo rely heavily on live room recordings processed and edited digitally. The focus is on capturing something of the human condition & the feeling at that moment.
Their debut EP ‘Self Edit’ in 2017, was nothing short of a masterpiece and drew critical
acclaim from the likes of The Line of Best Fit, Complex Magazine, Dummy, Clash et al –
Including radio support from Gilles Peterson, Mary Ann Hobbs, Benji B, Jamz Supernova,
Toddla T, DJ Target and George Fitzgerald. Since then the pair have expanded their
collaborative process further, ensuring that every project is a shared experience amongst friends and artists, a communal identity, which has become integral to Vesce.
Fronted by Raf and Dan, Vesce has always been supported by a musical-family of writers and artists, from Alex (keys), Tess (vocals), Joe (vocals / songwriting) and Alan (art direction).
The process of creation has remained unchanged since their inception: Encouraging
spontaneous moments with a continual refinement of composition and sound. This is
reflected in their visual work. Within the bounds of any given material, they are focused on the feeling and emotion behind what they do.
