YAANO and MADI Invoke Classic Trance and House on Electrifying Vocal-Driven Single “USED2” on NIGHTMODE

YAANO and MADI break new ground with “USED2,” out April 4 on NIGHTMODE. Based out of the Channel Islands, YAANO has built a reputation for shape-shifting sound design, seamlessly blending lush atmospheres with raw, abrasive textures. Across the Atlantic, Los Angeles-based vocalist and producer MADI has become a sought-after force in alternative and hyperpop, leaving an indelible mark on electronic music. Together, they craft a breakup anthem that defies convention, fusing their distinct styles into a haunting yet electrifying listening experience.

“USED2” thrives on contrast: MADI’s melancholic vocals drift through a warped house groove, heavy with the weight of lost love. Off-kilter synths and skittering drum patterns weave through deep, brooding basslines, balancing luminous melodies against jagged, experimental production. A squelchy, unpredictable build keeps listeners on edge before plunging them into the track’s hypnotic, otherworldly soundscape.

The single leads YAANO’s forthcoming EP on NIGHTMODE, marking a bold evolution in his artistry. Drawing inspiration from classic house and trance, he reshapes these influences through a contemporary lens, offering a fresh take on underground electronic music. His genre-warping approach has fueled standout collaborations with IMANU, Saka, Kasra, Klinical, and Skylark, earning radio support from NGHTMRE, Alison Wonderland, Rohaan, Posij, and Kanine.

MADI has built a formidable career in electronic music, her signature vocals and emotive lyricism cutting through collaborations with Excision, Dabin, Hekler, Apashe, Manila Killa, Slushii, and more. Spanning bass, melodic, and experimental sounds, her voice delivers raw intensity, making her a go-to across genres. Beyond collaborations, her solo work blends atmospheric melodies with introspective storytelling, moving fluidly between delicate soundscapes and hard-hitting production.

YAANO is riding a wave of momentum, wrapping up his debut tour across New Zealand and Australia before headlining his first show in Finland this April. In May, he joins IMANU’s ‘DE VERTE’ tour in Breda, further cementing his presence on the global stage. With “USED2,” he sharpens his sound into something darker, deeper, and more unpredictable, setting the stage for his most ambitious work yet.

“‘USED2’ is a contemporary take and homage to house and trance, old genres which influenced me during my formative years. It’s an exciting switch in my sound which I can’t wait to share with everyone, and I’m so happy that NIGHTMODE is the label this is going to be released with. The freedom/trust I have been given to get this track completed has been amazing and for that reason I wouldn’t want to release it anywhere else. I am also grateful for MADI’s amazing work on the track, it would have never turned out this amazing without her! I look forward to sharing this next step in my sound and career with everyone.—YAANO

I’m so excited for this track as I’ve been trying to create more art that is both emotional and makes sense to play out for DJ sets. After toplining for so many veteran electronic artists when I was a teenager, I’m stoked that this one mirrors this specific era I’m in as well as the current sonic that is really inspiring me as an adult. YAANO is a great human and collaborator so really proud of the teamwork on this!”—MADI

YAANO and MADI’s new single “USED2” is available on all platforms via NIGHTMODE.

More About YAANO

Among a talented new cohort opening doors to the wider dance music scene, is Bristol-based YAANO. For the past 5 years, Jersey-born James Pires has rubbed shoulders with the best in Drum & Bass, releasing on labels such as Critical Music and UKF’s Pilot with EP after EP of percussive, asymptotic bass-weight. Biding his time and surrounding himself with like-minded artists has resulted in numerous collaborations including ‘Life Like This’ with IMANU & fellow dynamo VISLA, and ‘Shatter’ with Critical boss Kasra. Drawing in further success as a DJ, he’s billed across the UK and Europe at renowned stages like FOLD, Le Bikini, and Outlook Festival. Laying down the groundwork in bass music afforded him the creative dexterity to jump at new ideas and platforms. Often accompanying his drum and bass tracks are slower-tempo numbers just as well-developed and polished, treading into UK Garage, Dubstep and House. Parallel influences from Indie, R’n’B, and Hip Hop, become potent reinterpretations in his productions. In his own words, “If you change your technique from what you usually do you’re bound to get different results but you’ll also develop your own sound.” All this is to suggest that YAANO is a maneuverable and perceptive artist, poised to refresh his sound again and again.
