Since putting out his first tracks back in 2022, the Florida-based producer FLOTE has always imbued his music with a pronounced instrumental feel. From his guitar driven self-release, “Crazy,” to his first single on Heaven Sent, “Sweet Escape”—which floats on warm piano chords—he is an expert at combining electronic exploration and authentic musical emotion. “Darkest Days” channels this same intriguing balance while leaning into the seminal sounds that conceived the melodic bass genre movement. The gleeful synth tapping alludes to the joy of 2010’s EDM, alongside the equally nimble vocal tones from emerging vocal talent, Sandra Yvette. When the introductory beat fades away, space opens for her to unleash her soaring tones, preempting a gorgeous cascade of panoramic drums and outstretched synths that encapsulate the full aural space.

Reflecting on his latest release, FLOTE says, “I’m incredibly grateful to be releasing my second track with Heaven Sent! Huge shoutout to SLANDER and the team for their support. ‘Darkest Days’ captures the pain of letting someone go while holding onto both the good and bad memories. It’s about being there for someone, even when you couldn’t save the relationship. The instrumental is a grungy, dark twist on future bass that I had a ton of fun producing!

“Darkest Days” is the second single from FLOTE’s debut EP, which is currently in the works for its home on Heaven Sent, scheduled to surface later this year. Prior to this, the bulk of his productions were all self released, and yet, he still managed to earn millions of streams across all platforms while landing coveted slots on premier editorial playlists such as Spotify’s Bass Lounge and Bass Arcade.

Now, with the co-sign from melodic ringleaders like SLANDER, 2025 is looking like the year that FLOTE makes a permanent mark in the rapidly growing world of melodic bass. The honesty he’s poured into “Darkest Days” should withstand the test of time, and Heaven Sent will be viewed as the vessel to help his vision to buoy up in all places around the globe.

FLOTEs new single “Darkest Days” featuring Sandra Yvette is available on all platforms via Heaven Sent.
