British producer YAANO makes a triumphant return to NIGHTMODE with his genre-defying ‘READY? GO’ EP, an electrifying four-track project slated for release on July 11. Standout track “WAY2” sees YAANO collaborating with Dutch innovator Jade Sierra, whose songwriter craftsmanship shines through on the track’s hyperpop-inflected vocals—taking the form of a dreamy female hook that captures the heartache of unbalanced romantic pain. Over cinematic melodies and choir harmonies, the track escalates into frenzied synth pulses and thunderous drumline breaks, creating a stirring yet dancefloor-ready anthem about lingering heartache long after the other has moved on.
The EP’s earlier singles have already set a blistering precedent with features on UKF, IHouseU, Frontview Magazine, and many more: “USED2,” featuring alt-electronic force MADI, takes breakup energy into uncharted terrain, slashing through warped house grooves with distorted synths and ghostly toplines. “Let Go,” a soul-baring cut with jazz-rooted vocalist Vanessa, balances cathartic tension and studio precision. From clattering claps to bass textures carved out of granite, YAANO sculpts emotional chaos into danceable structure.
Closing the project is “IN2,” a deceptive curveball that finds beauty in distortion. Built on a rugged four-on-the-floor bassline that growls beneath the surface, the track is softened by upbeat melodies and flickering vocal chops. The contrast is magnetic, giving the track a radiant lift even at its heaviest.
YAANO’s track record includes standout collaborations with scene staples IMANU, Kasra, Klinical, and Particle, while Jade Sierra, fresh from label success with NIGHTMODE via the Malixe collaboration “Haven,” brings a unique, emotionally charged vocal approach that has already caught attention from tastemakers Zeds Dead, Alison Wonderland, and ALOK.
‘READY? GO’ affirms YAANO’s place as a producer who thrives on range without compromising clarity. Across four tracks, he threads emotion and precision through a spectrum of electronic styles, always with purpose. Arriving courtesy of the burgeoning NIGHTMODE crew, the EP reflects the label’s continued focus on forward-thinking, genre-fluid talent and positions YAANO as a key voice in that movement.
“‘WAY2’ is about how we rarely carry the weight of a heartbreak evenly. Seeing someone else move on can make it more difficult to let go. I’m very grateful for YAANO to have me on this track and I’m also very excited to be back with NIGHTMODE.—Jade Sierra

More About YAANO
Among a talented new cohort opening doors to the wider dance music scene, is Bristol-based YAANO. For the past 5 years, Jersey-born James Pires has rubbed shoulders with the best in Drum & Bass, releasing on labels such as Critical Music and UKF’s Pilot with EP after EP of percussive, asymptotic bass-weight. Biding his time and surrounding himself with like-minded artists has resulted in numerous collaborations including ‘Life Like This’ with IMANU & fellow dynamo VISLA, and ‘Shatter’ with Critical boss Kasra. Drawing in further success as a DJ, he’s billed across the UK and Europe at renowned stages like FOLD, Le Bikini, and Outlook Festival. Laying down the groundwork in bass music afforded him the creative dexterity to jump at new ideas and platforms. Often accompanying his drum and bass tracks are slower-tempo numbers just as well-developed and polished, treading into UK Garage, Dubstep and House. Parallel influences from Indie, R’n’B, and Hip Hop, become potent reinterpretations in his productions. In his own words, “If you change your technique from what you usually do you’re bound to get different results but you’ll also develop your own sound.” All this is to suggest that YAANO is a maneuverable and perceptive artist, poised to refresh his sound again and again.
