ZEDS DEAD DROP NEW CLASSIC ANTHEM, “IN MY HEAD ft. MKLA” AHEAD OF NATIONAL DEADBEATS TOUR

Nearly 13 Years into their careers, Zeds Dead continue to prove they are among the most innovative and influential artists in electronic music. On Friday, August 12th, Zeds Dead and MKLA team up again for a follow-up collaboration to 2021’s smash hit “Alive” with another stunning cut of timeless electronica, “In My Head“.

Zeds Dead recently announced their Deadbeats label tour for 2022 that kicked off on July 2 & 3rd with two sold out shows at Red Rocks Amphitheater, followed by an equally clamored for takeover at the Brooklyn Mirage. The duo will bring one of the most unique, diverse electronic road shows to iconic venues across the country such as Masonic Temple in Detroit, WaMu Theatre in Seattle, The Shrine in LA, and more.

Zeds Dead has helped define vintage dubstep sound in America; popularizing the genre in the late 00s out of Toronto. Generations of artists count the Canadian duo among their biggest inspirations, fueled by the creation of the Deadbeats and Altered States labels. Deadbeats has become a widespread home for the idea of North American dubstep, while playing host to a diverse cast of artists and styles of bass music. This openness to explore culture trends and work with its creators led to the birth of Altered States, which further adventures into a wide array of sonic stylings like house music.

Born in Toronto, MKLA spent her early years living in Bentonville, Arkansas with her family, where she was exposed to classical music and traditional folk. Around age ten, she sang in the school choir, and began playing violin. During high school, she discovered folk, emo, indie rock, nu-metal, alternative EDM, and played in an electric orchestra before moving back to Toronto to head to college.

The music collaborations of songwriter, producer and singer, MKLA, have ranged in sound exploring deep dark bass in “Save Me” with Vintage Culture and Adam K, to official electronic/dance covers, “Kids” with KSHMR and MGMT, “Losing My Religion” with Steve Aoki and GATTUSO, and progressive house sounds in “Alive” with Zeds Dead. She cracked the top 20 on Billboard Dance with Deep Inside of Me in 2020.

In  2021, MKLA co-wrote REZZ and Dove Cameron’s “Taste of You”. Meanwhile, she has been building her first solo project, currently untitled, alongside working on a few EP collaborations with fellow artists including DVBBS, Banx & Ranx, and Zeds Dead.

Further cementing their status as bass music’s finest, Zeds Dead took over Denver this past 4th of July weekend for a 5-set, 3-night run in Denver, the unofficial bass music capital of America. The annual event not only included sold out, back-to-back nights at Red Rocks, but an outdoor Jamboree and 2-set gig at the renowned Mission Ballroom.
