Need 2 Know first appeared on a Rinse FM guest show with some unreleased tracks that never saw the light of day. A decade on, the tunes have changed, but the vibes haven’t; the production and label project launch with a distinctly British club sensibility and naughty cuts designed for the dance floor.
The artist behind it all “doesn’t particularly subscribe to the idea that an artist needs to explain themselves.” As such, there is no grand launch manifesto here, just effective, characterful sounds designed to work equally at 2 am in the club, 7 am in someone else’s kitchen or alone in bed in the aftermath. This first EP was chosen on a sunny Barcelona afternoon from 10″ dubplates and, in his own words, “it’s pretty bait.”
Catchy opener ‘So Bad’ is a fresh garage-house sound with dusty percussion and swinging drums. Lush pads soften the edges, and neon melodies flash through the mix alongside a longing vocal that adds extra emotional heat. ‘Here 2 Stay’ has an infectious skip and more well-worked vocals stitched into a bouncy deep house groove. Plenty of melodic colour and choppy stabs bring irresistible energy, while ‘You And Me’ is a more euphoric house vibe with big piano chords and busy keys. It’s a celebratory track but with a bittersweet undercurrent that marks the end of any great party. ‘Give It Up’ sinks into a quieter, deeper groove with nagging vocal hooks reflected and refracted through silky, pensive chords and cuddly bass. ‘Sometimes’ keeps things deep with more chopped-up vocal samples and soft-focus chords that comfort bruised souls and tired bodies.
Need 2 Know’s ‘So Bad EP’ comes on Need 2 Know Records on 30th October 2026.
