Producer and 199X Recordings founder Johannes LaFontaine joins MOOD with the ‘Chensō’ EP 19th June 2026. Making music since childhood, LaFontaine has steadily developed a sound rooted in driving, high-impact techno through both solo projects and collaborations, alongside releases on labels including Mote-Evolver and LÍM.
Opening cut ‘Chenso’ sets the tone with thudding kicks, tense hi-hats, and shadowy vocal textures that unfold through a dark, stripped-back groove built for low-lit dancefloors. ‘Subhuman’ shifts the energy upwards, introducing brighter synth flashes and tightly wound percussion as vocal fragments drift through the mix and the rhythm pushes towards peak-time territory. Closing track ‘WFTR’ rounds things out with heavyweight techno funk, combining crunchy percussion and hypnotic looping motifs with brief string-led breakdowns that heighten the track’s tension and release.
