Opening with a hypnotic, piano-led prelude, “DAWN” quickly ramps up intensity, layering shimmering melodic breaks, acidic builds, and driving psy-techno elements. As the track unfolds, it culminates in a breathtaking melodic dubstep drop, highlighting the duo’s talent for crafting immersive, boundary-pushing soundscapes.
Breaking down how the track came to be, STAR SEED says, “ODEA and I have been friends since 2014, actually. When I lived in LA, we would hang out every so often. Nearly 10 years later, we reconnected and started shooting around the idea of making some music together. We wanted to do something that would cohesively combine more rave aesthetic psy/techno vibes with wave and melodic bass, so we could seamlessly mesh together our individual sounds into one. We’re both really happy with how this one turned out.”
ODEA speaks to how well their sounds have melded together so perfectly on the collab: “ “We really wanted to make a song that combined all the different styles of our sounds and I believe we accomplished that! So happy with how the song came out and even happier that Heaven Sent believed in it the way we did!”
This release follows STAR SEED’s celebrated ‘Equinox’ EP on Heaven Sent, which garnered radio support from industry luminaries like Illenium, Jason Ross, and Monstercat. Building on this momentum, STAR SEED has been igniting live audiences while on the road supporting heavyweight artists from the likes of Seven Lions, Trivecta, and William Black, including a memorable sold-out performance at Red Rocks. His work continues to resonate with fans of both sonic exploration and atmospheric storytelling, positioning “DAWN” as a natural progression of his artistry.
For ODEA, “DAWN” reflects his evolution as a producer, expertly blending trance, trap, wave, and drum and bass into a distinct melodic bass sound. Known for his transformative remixes for artists like RL Grime, Dabin, and Said the Sky, ODEA channels his genre-spanning influences into this rave-tinged anthem, creating a piece that’s designed to light up dancefloors and festival stages.
Together, STAR SEED and ODEA have crafted “DAWN” as a bold, expansive electronic track that bridges a spectrum of electronic styles into one cohesive, transcendent experience. With its release on Heaven Sent, “DAWN” stands as a testament to their shared vision and passion for pushing the limits of electronic music, redefining what’s possible within the genre.
